Effects of Eucommiae Cortex and Folium on the Ovariectomized Rat as the Model of Postmenopaual Osteoporosis

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study is to examination what are the effects of the Eucommiae Cortex fried with salt and Eucommiae Folium on the aged ovariectomized rat model of postmenopaual osteoporosis.
The results of the experiment are as follows,
1. The level of serum ALP in Eucommiae Folium group showed a significant increase.
2. The level of S-GOT in Eucommiae Folium group and Eucommiae Cortex group showed a significant decreaseand Eucommiae Folium, but the level of S-GPT in both group showed no efficacy.
3. Urinary volume in Eucommiae Folium group and Eucommiae Cortex fried with salt group showed a significant decrease.
4. The level of urine-calcium to creatinine ratio in Eucommiae Folium group and Eucommiae Cortex fried with salt group showed a significant decrease.
According to the above results, effects of the Eucommiae Cortex fried with salt and Eucommiae Folium on the aged ovariectomized rat model showed a efficacy in assistance of hepatic function, prevention of bone aborption and bone mineral-loss, and prevention of urinary volume increase by ovariectomy.
And Eucommiae Folium showed a significant to bone-formation, so it can be used for restraint of postmenopaual oseoporosis. As for its effects, continuous clinical study is needed.
